366 Days of Making Art

Day 12

Up at 6am, sleep at 10pm.
Much more natural for me,
& seems like so much more time in the day,
even though it's the same hours asleep vs awake as 4:30am-8:30pm.

So;
Up at 6,
Didn't write for 10 minutes; Object writing is great for descriptive prose but does not, by itself, add to my poetic and lyrical progress.
Meditate for 20
Yoga for 20
Coffee and four James Clear articles
5k run, 29 minutes.
Back, Shower, Eat.
Practiced Piano for 1 hour to pomodoro.
I haven't mentioned it but my dear friend ig@triston.brooks.photography,
Revealed to me the wonders of the Pomodoro Study Technique
I usually use these videos.
I'm thriving on it, especially as someone with diagnosed and untreated ADD;
All Attention Deficit - No Hyperactive.

After practicing piano I busted through a major wall.
I utilized a ritual to support my transition into creative writing, the kind with stanzas; songs, poetry.
I'd been so reluctant to face it, but it was just fear.
I lit some incense,
Rung my Tibetan singing bowl,
and just, started, writing.
As Ernest Hemingway gets constant credit for saying,
     "There's nothing to writing.
All you do is sit at a typewriter and bleed."
There's no magic trick.
You just gotta write.
So an hour of writing minimum is now a part of my daily routine.
A solid ritual time-block for bleeding on the page.
That's a HUGE win for me.

I also came up with more than a couple chords for another song,
and a melody to go with some of the lyrics I wrote today.
It kept on going after I thought it would stop.
Things kept popping into my head throughout the day.
And some of the work even lined up with my form chart.

Notes on a page babe, notes on a page.

An old friend got in touch with me today.

Debussy's flute solo, Syrinx is based on an an old myth; Syrinx - a water nymph sought by Pan - fled into the river Ladon, and turned herself into a reed. Pan, in an attempt to lure her, cut down some reeds to make his flute.

Pan unknowingly sacrificed his love to make music.

This is written on my desk.
"You have no clue what I'm willing to sacrifice."

I did so knowingly.

See you tomorrow.
