366 Days of Making Art

Day 30

Best day in a long time.
Still working on waking up earlier.
Bike ride 1 hr, good splits.
Meditation and yoga 20 minutes each.
No coffee, Loads of tea.
Composition studies,
Four hours with a break for eat.
Not totally focused composition but still,
Notating in Sibelius.
Developing buildup.
Figuring out specifics in notation and rhythmic structure.
Reading Elaine Gould's, Behind Bars music notation book,
A lovely, fun (for me), and invaluable resource.
Looking into other contemporary compositions;
Toru Takemitsu's Air and the corresponding free pdf score study.
And texting a wonderful friend about the possibility of high register tremolos on the flute.
If I can do 3 hours of developmental composition the next two days I might hit my deadline for AUG 2nd.
Past the point of needing to practice piano for a whole hour for a gig next Sunday, just playing each piece though once a day is good now.
General research, reading, and listening on endless self improvement and growth.
Completed one of the exercises from No Excuses.
And I feel good.
I've failed to record PSALM 23 during the time alotted,
I'm disappointed. But maybe I can get it performed instead this fall as part of the choral group. It's just such a hard piece . . .
I didn't record it because I didn't place it high on my value list.
Been struggling.
But I'm back.

See you tomorrow lovelies.
